The University of California, Davis, received $783 million in external research funding for fiscal year 2016-17, up $23 million from the previous year. �� remained fourth overall among University of California campuses, which received a combined total of $6.08 billion from all external sponsors during fiscal year 2016-17, about 1 percent above the previous year.

“It’s clear that public agencies and private companies are depending on ��’ innovative spirit and expertise to help solve some of the world’s biggest challenges,” said Chancellor Gary S. May.

Campus Prepares to Offer Academic Harbor for Puerto Rican Scholars

The University of California, Davis, may become an academic harbor where some Puerto Rican scholars continue their research in the wake of the devastation Hurricane Maria wrought on their island.

About 175 faculty members and others have expressed their willingness to host displaced graduate students and faculty from the University of Puerto Rico for the fall, winter and/or spring quarters. Many have offered to provide financial resources, transportation or housing.

�� Betters Top-10 Ranking for ‘Public Good’

�� has bettered last year’s top-10 ranking by Washington Monthly magazine for contributions to the “public good.”

The campus moved from 10th to ninth spot overall among 303 public and private national universities in the 2017 rankings released today. It was ranked eighth in the criterion for promoting social mobility.

Stem cell therapies and research to be showcased during veterinary open house

New developments in treating diseases, alleviating pain and healing injuries with stem cells and related therapies will be highlighted Wednesday, Nov. 4, during an open house hosted by the Veterinary Institute for Regenerative Cures at the �� School of Veterinary Medicine.

The free, public event will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Gladys Valley Hall. It will feature researchers at several booths, discussing various kinds of regenerative-medicine projects underway at the School of Veterinary Medicine.
