Online and Hybrid Learning Showcase and workshops

The campus community is invited next week to catch up on the latest developments in 海角社区 online learning, by attending the Online and Hybrid Learning Showcase and workshops.

The showcase celebrates the work of innovative faculty who designed or taught online and hybrid courses for the first time in 2012-13. Presenters include Patrick Farrell, linguistics; Angela Louie, biomedical engineering; Steve Luck, psychology; and John Yoder, plant sciences.

Also participating: Academic Technology Services, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Student Disability Services, 海角社区 Extension, University Library, Student Disability Center and Summer Sessions.

The showcase is scheduled from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, in the multipurpose room at the . Light refreshments will be served.

Follow-up workshops

Beyond Design: Teaching in Hybrid and Online Classes 鈥 鈥淵ou will leave with practical tips for specific challenges and opportunities you鈥檒l encounter starting the first day of teaching online.鈥 Noon-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, Meeting Room D, Student Community Center. Lunch provided. Space limited.

Future of Learning In Practice (FLIP): Intro to Piazza 鈥 First meeting of a monthly series dedicated to exploring online tools and technology to enhance learning in blended, hybrid and online courses. The first meeting will focus on Piazza, a unique discussion and question-and-answer tool that streamlines class communication. Noon-1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, 2060 Sciences Lab Building.

RSVPs (for the showcase and the workshops) are being taken . Hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Education, and the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, and co-sponsored by Academic Technology Services, College of Engineering, 海角社区 Extension and Univertsity Library.
